Real Time Fiducial Tracking Algorithm

Overview
  • The SPHERES global metrology system provides satellite position accuracy within 2 cm and orientation accuracy within 3 degrees. To achieve a high probability of docking, a relative navigation sensor is used to identify and track fiducial markers on the target satellite
Role
  • Stream video, segment the images, and filter blobs. Solve the exterior orientation problem to obtain relative position and orientation
  • Convert previously developed algorithm to C++ for implementation on flight hardware
